Golf
We welcome you to the New Plymouth Golf Club and most sincerely hope you enjoy playing "Ngamotu", make many friends, and accept the challenge that this famous course offers.

A on-line booking sheet operates at weekends, on Wednesdays and public holidays, and by telephoning the Golf Shop on 06 755 0424 and booking a time, you will be able to get a game with other members and make new friends.

Practising on the course proper is not allowed. You may play only 2 balls from tee to green on the course (when on your own). All other practice must be done on the practice areas.

Golf clubs, trundlers, shoes and other items are not covered by the Club's insurance as this is your own personal responsibility. Lockers are available at a minimal charge in the club house for storage of equipment and are issued subject to availability.

If you have any queries at all, please feel free to discuss these with The Manager or Sue at the office.

VISITORS
Visitors are welcome on the course at any time but during the playing season, visitors should make prior arrangements with the Golf Shop.

GOLF ETIQUETTE
The Etiquette of Golf as printed in the "Rules of Golf" should be observed at all times in the interest of yourself and your fellow golfers. The main points are:
  • When another golfer is addressing the ball or making a stroke, please keep still and do not talk.
  • Play without delay and move quickly between shots. Slow play is not acceptable - "Play behind the 4 in front, not in front of the 4 behind."
  • The player who has the honour plays first.
  • Wait until the players in front are out of range before playing.
  • When searching for a ball, allow players coming up to pass through.
  • Before leaving a bunker repair all marks made with the rake provided.
  • Replace all divots and repair all marks made on the course.
  • Repair pitch marks made by your ball landing on the green.
  • Do not take your trundler across any teeing areas or between bunkers and the edges of greens.
  • Be conversant with the Rules of Golf and observe all "Local Rules" printed on the scorecard or as posted on the club noticeboard.
  • The committee requests you wear a reasonable standard of dress on the course and in the clubhouse. To keep our clubhouse neat and tidy, shoes worn on the course are not permitted in the lounge.
  • Be courteous and helpful to all visitors and learner golfers who may not know the rules of golf or normal golf etiquette.

PRACTICE AREAS
There are three designated practice areas: the putting green, the area alongside the main highway and the area below the 8th green. Please use these areas for all practice. Please give way to golfers playing the course at all times. When practicing alongside the main highway, the club accepts no responsibility for damage or injuries caused by balls hit onto the road.
